SEOs: A replacement to Yahoo! Site Explorer coming?

Posted July 30 by Dan Cryer

After the announcement of Yahoo’s deal with Microsoft to use Bing on all Yahoo! properties, there’s been a lot of concern over the future of Yahoo! Site Explorer. As a result, we’ve been looking into alternative sources for backlink data. Google, of course, provide some backlink data through webmaster tools, but it’s poor at best. Bing’s offering is not much better.

The next logical step for us was to look at Majestic SEO, to see if there was any opportunity to use their data, or offer their data in new ways, perhaps under new models? Then I saw that another company has already had that same idea: Majestic SEO has today appointed internet marketing company Receptional to oversee their worldwide expansion and marketing campaign.

The first steps in this campaign are to be a web site redesign for Majestic, and a publically available API to their services. I’m very much looking forward to seeing how this turns out. I can’t help but wonder, is this a direct response to yesterday’s announcement?
